‘0’ is used as a trunk prefix for calling to a different area code or between a mobile phone and landline within Ghana.

Local calling (within the same area code)

To call within the same area code in Ghana dial only the local seven digit local number. Do not dial the trunk prefix ‘0’ or the area code.

Ghana’s phone numbers are nine digits (ten including a leading ‘0’ that is not dialed when called from outside the country).

The first two digits are an area code. Landlines being with the digit ‘3’.

Mobile numbers begin with digits ‘2’ or ‘5’. The first two digits are a carrier code that designates the mobile phone provider.
