Northern Cyprus land-line (fixed line) phone numbers begin with area code ‘392’. Mobile phone numbers begin with ‘533’ and ‘542’.
Calling to Northern Cyprus from the Republic of Cyprus
There is a ‘shortcut’ dialing sequence to connect a call from the Republic of Cyprus to Northern Cyprus. It bills at local calling rates. (The international call sequence can also be used but it bills at international calling rates).

Area codes ‘533’ and ‘542’ are reserved on the Turkish phone network for Northern Cypriot phone numbers.
Calling to a Northern Cypriot (internet) phone
Dial VoIP phone numbers with the same sequence as regular land-line (fixed line) phone numbers.
There are no designated area codes for VoIP phone services.
Calling to a Northern Cypriot satellite phone
Globalstar has area codes 592, 594, and 596 reserved in Turkish numbering system, and may be available as domestically accessible numbers for Northern Cypriot customers. These are satellite phones that may be located worldwide on the Globalstar system. These numbers are dialed with the same sequence as regular land-line (fixed line) phone numbers.
Other satellite phones may be based on their own country code – common providers are: Inmarsat (+870, +871, +872, +873, +874), Iridium (+881 6 / +881 7), Globalstar (+881 8 / +881 9, as well as country-specific numbers), and Thuraya (+882 16).
Calling within Northern Cyprus (domestic dialing)
‘0’ is used as a trunk prefix when calling between areas codes in Turkey (the host of the Northern Cypriot phone system).
When calling within the same landline area, the trunk prefix and area code is omitted. When calling between different area codes, the call sequence is trunk prefix (0) – area code – subscriber number.

Phone number structure
Turkish / Northern Cypriot phone numbers are ten digits.
First three digits: Represent a geographic (area) code.
Remaining digits: represent the remainder of the subscriber number.
Mobile numbers being with digit ‘5’. They are dialed the same way as all other numbers in Turkey.
