How to call Iran (international dialing)
- Do not dial a leading ‘0’ in the international call sequence – it is only used in Iran for domestic long distance calls and domestic calls to a mobile phone.

How to call within Iran (domestic dialing)
‘0’ is used as a trunk prefix when calling to a different area code or a mobile phone within Iran.
Local calling (within the same area code)
To call within the same area code dial only the local phone number. Do not dial the trunk prefix ‘0’ or the area code.

Number details
Iranian phone numbers are ten digits (eleven including a leading ‘0’ that is not dialed when calling from outside the country).
The first two to three digits are an area code. It represents a geographic part of the country.
Mobile numbers start with a three-digit carrier code (four digits including a leading ‘0’ that is not dialed when calling from outside the country) and begin with ‘9’.
