Calling to Western Sahara
- Do not include a leading ‘0’ in the international call sequence – it is only used in Morocco and Western Sahara for domestic long distance calls and domestic calls to a mobile phone.
- Western Sahara phone numbers begin with ‘5288’ and ‘5289’ within Morocco’s phone network.
- A leading '+' in the phone number means 'dial your country's exit code'.
- Calling from a mobile phone: dial from on the country where you're currently located.
- Calling from a VoIP or satellite phone: dial from on the country where the phone is registered.

Morocco’s mobile phone numbers begin with ‘6’, and ‘7’. Phone numbers are often listed with a leading ‘0’ however the leading ‘0’ is not dialed when calling from outside the country.
When calling a mobile phone user, dial to the country where the mobile phone is registered, regardless of where the person is roaming.

When calling a VoIP phone user, dial to the country where the VoIP phone is registered, regardless of where the person is roaming.
… to a satellite phone
Moroccan phone numbers beginning with ‘8920’, ‘8921’, and ‘8922’ are reserved for VSAT phone numbers. Some of these VSAT phones may be present in Western Sahara.
Most satellite phones operate on their country code – calls to these satellite phones follow their own call sequence.

‘0’ is used as a trunk prefix within Western Sahara and the Moroccan phone network. It is dialed (along with the area code) for all calls within Western Sahara and Morocco.

For all calls within Western Sahara and Morocco dial the trunk prefix ‘0’, then the area code and local phone number.

Western Sahara’s phone system is part of the Moroccan phone system. Phone numbers are nine digits.
The first four digits represent a geographic (area) code or carrier code within Morocco, as well as whether the phone number is a land-line (fixed line) or mobile phone number. Western Sahara area codes are ‘5288’ and ‘5289’.
Mobile numbers within the Moroccan phone system start with ‘6’ and ‘7’.
